Fjord Tour to Sommarøy
Explore the breathtaking landscapes of Whale Island all the way to the picturesque village of Sommarøy, and discover the region’s history and culture!
On this tour, we will travel across Kvaløya, the “Island of Whales” — a land of fjords, mountains, valleys, and lakes offering some of the most spectacular scenery in the region.
In summer, I offer this excursion in the evening, when the warm, soft light of the midnight sun transforms the landscape, painting it with long shadows and golden hues. In winter, on the other hand, we’ll make the most of the limited daylight hours — the so-called “blue hour” — when the snowy landscape is bathed in the magical tones of twilight.
Along the way, we’ll make several stops to admire the most scenic viewpoints, and I’ll also share stories about the history and culture of the region: life in Tromsø, the climate, the midnight sun, the polar night, the Sami people, and much more. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Once we reach Sommarøy, the “Island of Summer”, we’ll take a short sightseeing tour of the village with a stop at one of the stunning white-sand beaches that make this island so enchanting.
This tour is designed for the curious — for those who love to explore and learn. In fact, along the way I’ll share my deep knowledge of local history and culture with you.

Important info
- Minimum age: 6 years (due to the nature of the tour and to guarantee the comfort of all participants)
- To ensure a comfortable environment for all participants, smoking is not permitted at any time during the tour, not even during breaks outside the vehicle. Even a quick cigarette outdoors can cling to jackets and gloves, and in a small space like a minivan this may cause significant discomfort to other guests.
